COAST TO COAST

DJ Cello’s legendary Coast to Coast nights ran successfully as a regular night for 20 years. Dj Cello started DJ’n 25 years ago, making a few guest appearances at ‘The Big Club’ and at ‘Deep Funk’. He then moved on to start his own night Coast to Coast.

Coast to Coast started in the west end of London in 1999. Then it moved to become a monthly, packed and lively, Saturday night in the now trendy part of town - Old Street, E2. Eventually it became a weekly night, which was indicative of the growing success Coast to Coast had as a club & Cello as a respected DJ. Part West-Indian blues party, part 60s Soul night. DJ Cello’s Coast to Coast was the new scene in town. Whether you were visiting London for the weekend or living and working in the Smoke, Coast to Coast was the main event in Town at this time. An eclectic fusion of Northern Soul, Reggae, Ska, Latin & Boogaloo combine in one of the unique club nights in Europe. Packed out with all types, enjoying rare black music from the 60s in an atmosphere more like your best friend’s birthday party, this really was a truly special event in London Town. But sadly in the summer of 2009, Coast to Coast came to an abrupt end due to problems with the venue. So he decided to move on to Camden's Fiddlers Elbow where he enjoyed some fantastic years. Coast to Coast is no longer a regular night but watch out for 1 off special events which will take place at various venues around London with live bands and guest DJs.

During his time with Coast to Coast, Cello Dj’d in Barcelona, Oslo, Turin, Glasgow, Hamburg ( The Kings & Queens), the London Intl Ska Festival & the Notting Hill Carnival. He’s supported live acts such as Desmond Dekker, Neville Staples (Specials), Pauline Black (Selecter), The Original Wailers, Owen Grey, Dave Barker, Bad Manners, Intensified, The Estimators, Dinamo, Chris Murray, The Delegators, Westbound Train, Freetown, Roddy Radiation (Specials) & the Skabilly Rebels, Manlio Calafrocampano & Dubhouse Band and The Dualers to a sell out crowd at the Indigo O2 Arena. DJ Cello still continues to play in and around Europe and the UK
